Delicious Foods from Around the World You Need to Try

Food, glorious food. There are many reasons to take to the skies and head to new locations, but part of the fun has got to be trying the local cuisine.

A country’s championed dishes tell you a lot about its culture and history. If you are planning on heading to any of the countries below, make sure you sample our tasty offering.

Argentina: Asado

Essentially a barbecue on steroids, asado is part of the Argentinian way of life. Locals do not scrimp on their cuts of meat and asado primarily consists mainly of beef and a smidge of other meats and seafood cooked on a grill, known as a parrilla, or an open fire.

Costa Rica: Gallo Pinto

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you’re tucking into gallo pinto, we can understand why. The traditional Costa Rican breakfast comprises of rice and black beans, scrambled eggs, and a small tortilla. Some even top with ripe avocado or fried banana which off-sets the saltiness of the rice perfectly.

Switzerland: Cheese Fondue

We might have tried a chocolate fondue, but nothing compares to a traditional cheese version. For those who cannot get enough of the dairy goodness, a Swiss cheese fondue is a great thing to enjoy with family and friends. Carefully select your cheeses, let them melt, and dunk pieces of fresh bread into the molten yellow goodness.

China: Jiaozi

These delicious Chinese dumplings are a popular and cheap breakfast option. The deep-fried parcels are stuffed with mine and vegetables and served with a spicy sesame oil. They can be found in every restaurant and each street food vendor will have their own take on the dish.

Ukraine: Holubtsi

Okay, any dish containing cabbage doesn’t ignite our palettes. However, holubtsi is an exception. Cabbage leaves are stuffed with rice, meat, and mushrooms before being rolled into tasty parcels. The cabbage rolls are an old-fashioned Ukrainian dish which is delicious and simple.

Ethiopia: Mahaberawi

If you want to sample a variety of Ethiopian dishes you should order mahaberawi. On top of a bed of injera (a spongy pancake) will be a mix of freshly prepared meat and vegetable dishes. Usually this includes a flavoursome beef stew called key wat, shiro wat (chickpea curry), misir wat (lentil stew) and some fresh tomato salad called salata.

Czech Republic: Goulash and Dumplings

Warm goulash and bread dumplings are the Czech Republic’s answer to pub grub. Wholesome and filling, the goulash (which originates from Hungary) contains potatoes, vegetables, and quality beef.

Many Czech citizens add beer to the stew to thicken the sauce and bump-up the flavour.
