Through the Eras
There are different periods through time that evoke different emotions within us. Some of us don’t like to admit it, but we remember a lot of the foods from ‘back in the day’. However, you do not need to stop at your own lifetime to throw a historical party.
Whether you are reaching for the 1960s Baked Alaska or medieval suckling pig with essential apple in the mouth, your guests will revel in being transported to a time totally different from now. Don’t just stop with the food, ensure your party is decorated appropriately, and fancy dress is a must!
Movie Inspired Banquets
Whether you are a huge fan of Chocolat, Harry Potter, or Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, completely dedicating an evening of eating to your favourite film will have your guests thinking you are the next Heston Blumenthal.
The movies mentioned have quite obvious food ties; butter beer and a chocolate frog anyone? However, you can always create your own dishes based upon your favourite flick. Time to get creative.
One Food Only Party
Pizza. Tacos. Macaroni Cheese. Whatever food you constantly crave, have a one-food-only party. Ask each of your guests to bring their own version of your set dish; this ensures that there will be a variety of different options to try, and people won’t get sick of one flavour.
You can always include accompaniments such as salads and vegetables, but the pièce de résistance
must be the food you are celebrating.
Vegetarian or Vegan Evening
The number of those who are vegetarian, or vegan, has shot up in the past few years. However, a lot of us are quick to turn our nose up at a meatless meal. If you are vegetarian or vegan, hosting a dinner party to cook for your carnivorous pals can really help them open their eyes.
Vegetarian and vegan food is incredibly tasty and perhaps you could have some of your friends thinking about their own food choices.
Only From Your Garden
Many of us do not have the time to live by our own hands, ‘The Good Life’ style. However, if you do, make the most of it and host an evening of eating supplied from your allotment or garden.
A lot of the time, people are surprised by the amount of edible sustenance in their garden, even if they do not have a vegetable patch. But, if foraging and harvesting isn’t viable, head to your nearest farmer’s market and ensure all the produce you serve at your dinner is local.
